Outreach Opportunities

BETTY'S BOUTIQUE -  Besides having people come in, Betty's Boutique has been able to assist other ministries in the area in distributing clothes - we have "teamed up" with Birthright (an organization that helps unwed mothers); St. Pascal's homeless ministry (they drive to downtown distributing clothes and food to the homeless on the streets); downtown women and men's shelters and the annual Convoy of Hope.

  • HOURS:  Betty's Boutique
  • DONATIONS - Drop off gently used clothes (sorted by gender and size), toys, toiletries, house wares and furniture in the drop off box in the North stairway across from the Friendly Grounds Cafe.

  • FURNITURE DELIVERY - Volunteers needed to follow up on possible donators of furniture and coordinate the pickup, storage at the church garage, and delivery of the furniture to people in need throughout the community.

ADULT CHOIR   The adult choir meets weekly and will be preparing for Sunday morning worship services and a fall worship event. Twice a year, for 4-6 weeks typically around Easter and Christmas, they go to area nursing homes and minister in song and fellowship. You are welcome to join anytime!

PRAYER WARRIORS - To lift up those in poverty or in need, especially the children.  Please pray that our volunteers would be Jesus’ hands and feet, and give them hope along with the practical.

PROJECT HOPE MEALS - Our church family has the opportunity to prepare a nice hot meal for the homeless at Project Hope, ;the 3rd Wed of each month. The sign up’s go out in advance via email and each person is asked to provide a part of making the meal for 40 people.  This is also fun way to include the family or team up with a friend to prepare and/or share the cost. You can choose one of the following: Main course, bread, salad, vege, fruit, dessert and a driver. Donations also graciously accepted to assist someone who has the time prepare, but not the budget.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT MINISTRY - Have room at your table at Thanksgiving?  Want to serve an Easter Dinner to those who don't know the reason we celebrate Easter?  This ministry is committed to helping meet the needs of the international students who live in the area while in college. They strive to demonstrate love and support to these students by hosting dinners, helping them find lodging, helping them understand the American culture and just in general being a friendly face in a strange land.

BEREAVEMENT MINISTRY - The Bereavement Ministry provides a light lunch for family and friends of loved ones who have their funeral service at WHFC. This is a rewarding ministry as we express love to our brothers and sisters in Christ and their extended families by serving them in their time of need. The Bereavement Ministry strives to be the hands of Jesus reaching out in love.

MERCY MINISTRY - As the Body of Christ, we are called to care for one another in practical, as well as spiritual ways. Please consider allowing God to use you to fulfill His command. Tell us what you'd like to do - remember, our God works in us to "will and to do of His good pleasure," - we'll let Him open doors to use our gifts.

GRIEVING SHAWL MINISTRY - Care and the love of knitting (and crochet) have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace. Many blessings are knitted into every shawl. The knitter begins each shawl with prayers for the recipient. Prayers are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. When the shawl is completed, it is offered a final prayer before being sent along its way. Besides knit and crochet; the shawls can be woven, sewn, quilted or machine knitted.
