Great PlaceIt's great to be a part of a church like Willoughby Hills Friends whose main reason for existence is to "love Jesus Christ and people unconditionally." Christ's coming to earth some 2000 years ago reminds us of the truth proclaimed through the 1965 hit by David, Bacharach and DeShannon, "what the world needs now is love, sweet love. It's just a simple thing that there's too little of." This singleness of purpose makes WHFC a great resource for those of us who want to make a lasting impact in the lives and communities of northeast Ohio. WHFC is also a great place for me to get my basic need for love met. I wonder if the Beatles knew they were proclaiming the words of Christ in their 1967 single hit release " all you need is love...love, love...love is all you need?" It's true, not because of Lennon and McCartney's work but rather because of the words of Jesus Christ. We need love. God is love (I John 4:8), and it is His chief attribute. All of creation has a basic need to abide in the love of God (4:16), that's why Jesus Christ came to earth. To reveal the love of God and to make it accessible to His creation. Such love is experienced through a relationship with Jesus Christ and in the presence of Christ followers. At WHFC the words of Ron Harris' song ring true for me:
