Mastering Motherhood - Small Group Studies

Stack of books

Mastering Motherhood seeks to provide love, support, encouragement and friendship to women seeking to follow the Lord in the adventure of mothering. Each week the ladies come together as a large group for brunch and devotions after which they break off into small groups and study different books. Several of the books being studied don't build upon the previous week's discussion so you can join at any time!

Extracting the Precious from 2nd Corinthians

by Donna Patrow with Lin Johnson

Extracting the Precious from 2nd Corinthians
Workbook Cost: $6

In this in-depth study of the book of 2nd Corinthians, we will see how God uses Paul’s words to his ancient church to help contemporary  Christians discover the power of sincere faith.
In the author’s words, “The apostle Paul hardly needs introduction to anyone who is remotely familiar with the bible or the Christian faith.  But perhaps we do not know him quite as well as we think we do.  Paul’s courageous vulnerability is precisely why this book touches my heart so deeply.  He was not some robotic super-saint but a human being with a breaking point, just like the rest of us.  He wasn’t writing impersonal commentary to strangers; he was writing to friends he cared deeply about, urging them to live differently.  In the case of the Corinthian believers, Paul wanted to remind them that serving God is no guarantee that everything will always go your way.  And on the flip side, just because you seem to have it “all together” doesn’t mean your life is pleasing to God.  Are you for real?  That’s all he wanted to know.  Are you for real?  Do you have a sincere faith?  That was Paul’s desire for his friends… and it is my desire for you.  I pray this study through the book of 2 Corinthians will help you take a few steps closer toward that goal.

When Your Child is 6-12 **FULL**

by John M. Drescher

We've been overrun with child-rearing manuals for infants. We've been swamped with advice for relating to teens, But little has been offered to parents whose children are in middle childhood. John M. Drescher, a wise voice in the field of parenting literature, addresses particular delights and difficulties of this stage in a child's life. His books have appeared in 10 different languages and sold more than 400,000 copies.

These are, observes Drescher, years of primarily happy companionship between children and parents. No longer as dependent as a preschooler and not yet as independent as a teenager, the child between the ages of 6 and 12 is a malleable being, inclinded to imitate his or her parents, looking for the safety of parental love. Drescher's book is a call to enjoy these years, but not to mistake their importance by neglecting the child who seems happy and content.
