Friends Adult Ministries

From worship to service to fellowship opportunities, Friends Adult Ministry has much to offer those in the 50+ age range. We have age-specific educational offerings such as the "Never Say Old" Sunday School class geared towards senior adults, as well as pertinent seminar programming covering issues relevant to the entire spectrum of our age group. Fellowship opportunities abound throughout the year.

Senior Adult Thursday Fellowship

Every Thursday there are structured activites for the Senior Adults in the Friends Adult Ministry Room. The activities can include bible studies, arts and crafts (such as crochet, quilting, small wood projects, and painting), shuffleboard, games, music, and fellowship. The First Thursday of the month a guest speaker joins us to discuss a wellness topic relevant to Seniors. Bring your own lunch or purchase lunch at the Friendly Grounds Café.

Mercy Ministry

As the Body of Christ, we are called to care for one another in practical, as well as spiritual ways. Please consider allowing God to use you to fulfill His command. Tell us what you'd like to do - remember, our God works in us to "will and to do of His good pleasure," - we'll let Him open doors to use our gifts. If you are willing to be part of a caring group of people demonstrating Christ's love in practical ways then print or pick up the Mercy Ministry brochure and fill it out.

Grieving Shawl Ministry

Care and the love of knitting (and crochet) have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace. Many blessings are knitted into every shawl. The knitter begins each shawl with prayers for the recipient. Prayers are continued throughout the creation of the shawl. When the shawl is completed, it is offered a final prayer before being sent along its way. Besides knit and crochet; the shawls can be woven, sewn, quilted or machine knitted. This ministry is an extension of the Mercy Ministry.

Caregivers Support Group

It is estimated that seven million Americans now care for an elderly parent in the home. But caregiver is a broad term that includes much more than home care. Perhaps before your widowed parent came to live with you, you have helped them so they could live independently. Even if a parent or loved one was placed in a nursing home, care by the family continues. It may come as a shock when you find your caregiving is much more difficult than you realized, and that " Nobody trained me for this!" Caregiving as an opportunity sent by God for your own spiritual growth and maturity. It isn't easy, but the Lord is there to help us! Caregivers Support Group offers love and support to you as you journey through this passage of your life. Join others for an encouraging time of support.
