Here are a number of key ministries that you might want to be aware of and even choose to be part of ... there is almost always room for another person in these ministries so don't hesitate to contact the person in charge!

Food Pantry

The Food Pantry ministry is dedicated to getting food into the hands of those who come to our attention as needing help. Our goal is to ensure that every needy individual or family, whether someone from within our church body or in the community, does not lack for this basic necessity.

This is an ongoing ministry and there are always shelves in the food pantry that need replenished. Would you consider bringing in nonperishable items if the Lord has currently blessed you with plenty? Any donations should be placed in the grocery carts near the back and Activity Center entrances. No opened or outdated items please.

Care Ministry

Care Ministry Prayer Card Care Ministry Team praying

The Care Ministry is an outreach to those who walk in the door of WHFC for the first time. The care ministry leaders and members strive to discover, meet, and greet first time guests so they feel the love of Jesus. They ensure that the prayer needs of that guest are recorded and prayed for before the morning is over. They continue to pray for them throughout the week and encourage them with a card or phone call. The staff also gets these prayer requests and ensure they are prayed over! This effort to ensure that the prayer needs of those the Lord brings are way are lifted up is an integral part of this ministry.

Greeters

The Greeters are the face of the church. They ensure the doors are opened when hands are full, questions are answered, and most importantly that a smile and word of welcome gets sent to everyone who joins our family for a service.

Ushers

The Ushers ensure we get a bulletin when entering a service and willingly help those who so desire find a seat. They also are called upon to pass the offering plate and help distribute special handouts to the congregation.

Prayer Chain

Are you available during the day to take a phone call and pray for one of the church family who has an immediate need? Or are you available by email to receive a prayer request and spend a few moments raising it up to the Lord who hears and answers the prayers of His people? If so, please consider being part of the prayer chain. If you find yourself being the one with the immediate need, do not hesitate to call the church office!

Tele-Care Ministry

There are those who miss church for a number of weeks due to sickness or other conflicts and start to wonder if anyone has noticed. Or worse they may have some significant problem that has overwhelmed them and kept them away. A problem we could be supporting and praying them through if we only knew. The Tele-Care Ministry contacts those who have been absent for several weeks and makes sure they know someone cares. They also assume responsibility for ensuring that any needs are brought to the attention of the right people. This is family supporting family and making sure no one falls through the cracks.

Visitation

Pastor Tom welcomes those who have a heart for ministering to the sick and hurting to join him in the Visitation Ministry. There are many who are home bound or struggling with prolonged sicknesses that long for contact with someone to encourage and pray with them. Pastor Tom is desirous of having a team of people who will join him in visiting those in need.

Nursing Home Ministry

As Matthew 25 states, "... I was sick and you looked after me ...I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me...".

The Nursing Home Ministry puts these words into action by caring for those who are confined to a nursing home. Pastor Jim Belt and the Singles both have ministries to those in area nursing homes. If you are interested in beginning a ministry of your own in this area or want to join one already in progress, the opportunities are plentiful.
